The Halloween season is here. But unlike yesteryears, the world has changed. Along with telling kids to stay safe from traffic on Halloween night, there is a need to keep them safe from Covid as well. So here are some simple steps to stay safe during the spooky season.

Use a Mask this Halloween

I know it may not suit your Halloween attire. But try to add a mask as part of your costume. Parents should ensure their kids are wearing one and ask them not to take them off while they are outside. Also, no hugs, kisses, or handshakes….no physical contact at all. Masks must be worn by every single person going out regardless of age

Celebrate Halloween within your neighborhood

In the current situation, try to stay within your neighborhood for trick or treating. If you have families who have contracted the virus or are quarantined at the moment, it would be good to avoid trick or treating.

Avoid physical contact with other Halloween parties at all costs. Make sure an adult accompanies children throughout the night out. They must make sure the children frequently use hand sanitizers and use it themselves as well. Keep a distance of at least 6 feet between different trick or treating groups. It is advised not to get into large gatherings like parties this Halloween season.

Ignorance if Voluntary is a crime

If you have any signs of physical illness, stay indoors this Halloween. You should not jeopardize the health of both yourselves or the people that may be out trick or treating. For adults who are handing candies to visiting children, you could pack them separately so that you do not have to come into direct contact with the kids.

Have a Limit for Halloween Candy

Make sure you bring your treats home before eating them. Kids should do so so that their parents could remove anything that may be risky…like candy that may not be wrapped. Wash your hands thoroughly before eating any treats.

Make sure to eat only the treats which are properly sealed in a wrapper. You don’t want to end up in the hospital, do you? Trust me! You don’t. Especially not during a time when the pandemic is still going strong. Some of you might have more treats than you need to eat. Keep some leftovers so you could enjoy them later or share them with your family.
